Favoritism Fairness

One of our co-workers is the boss's pet. No matter what she does, she is never wrong. She gets everything she wants, and we don't think it's fair. How should we deal with her?

How do you deal with the boss's pet? Very carefully. You may well be upset with the preferable treatment she receives, but if you walk into the middle of this situation, you might just find yourself walking out of this organization.

Your boss is practicing a ridiculous form of management that has the potential to generate dissatisfaction, disruption, and serious claims of favoritism. And further, this type of behavior undercuts teamwork, productivity, loyalty, and commitment.

At the same time, it is important to look carefully at what you mean by favoritism. On the one hand, your boss may be showering this employee with favors in order to win her attention and more. However, it is also possible that he views this individual as the most productive individual in the department, and he is focusing attention on her because he sees her focusing such a high degree of attention on her job.

The best step in this type of situation is to do the best you can in your work, savor the variety and challenge, enjoy the camaraderie of your fellow employees, and do yourself a favor by taking your mind off of favoritism.

I believe this is a very good answer. I was called the boss's pet. I work very hard, extensive hours, I give my best. Because of my hard work, I am involved and multiple projects. I noticed my co-workers are acting weird around me. I know for a fact, they do not do even half of my work load. Always remember, you have to give to receive. Good managers will notice.
